Minimally Invasive Surgery

Laparoscopic
Surgery

Minimally invasive liver, gallbladder and pancreas surgery — smaller incisions, faster recovery, and less post-operative pain for eligible patients.

LaparoscopicSurgery
What We Offer

Keyhole Surgery for
Complex Liver Conditions

Laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for the liver, gallbladder and pancreas requires advanced surgical skills that go beyond standard laparoscopy. Not every centre or surgeon has the training to perform these procedures safely. SALi's surgical team, trained in leading UK centres, offers laparoscopic HPB surgery for eligible patients — with the same oncological principles as open surgery but significantly faster recovery.

Laparoscopic liver resection — segments, sectionectomy, hemihepatectomy
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstones, polyps and gallbladder disease
Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy for pancreatic body/tail tumours
Laparoscopic staging for liver, gallbladder and pancreatic cancers
Hand-assisted and robotic-assisted approaches for complex cases
Conversion to open surgery when required for safety — no hesitation

What We Offer

Our Approach to Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic Liver Resection
We perform laparoscopic liver resections — from minor wedge resections to major hemihepatectomies — with blood loss and recovery times comparable to the best international centres.
Faster Recovery
Patients undergoing laparoscopic liver resection are typically discharged 3–4 days earlier than after open surgery, with significantly less post-operative pain and faster return to normal life.
Oncological Safety
Laparoscopic surgery at SALi follows the same oncological principles as open surgery — R0 margins, appropriate lymph node clearance, no-touch technique for cancer cases.
Cholecystectomy
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy for symptomatic gallstones, acute cholecystitis, gallbladder polyps and early-stage gallbladder cancer — performed routinely by our team.
Staging Laparoscopy
Before major open surgery for HPB cancers, laparoscopic staging allows us to identify peritoneal disease and assess resectability — avoiding unnecessary large operations.
Safe Conversion
Patient safety is always primary. We convert to open surgery without hesitation when the laparoscopic approach would compromise safety or oncological outcome.
