Critical Care Designed
for Liver Patients

Post-transplant ICU care is a specialised discipline. The haemodynamic changes after liver transplantation, the management of immunosuppression, the monitoring of graft function in the first 48 hours — these require intensivists and nurses with specific liver transplant training. SALi's ICU is staffed by a team that has cared exclusively for liver patients, trained to international standards.

What We Offer

Our Approach to ICU Facility

Post-Transplant Monitoring
The first 48 hours after liver transplant are critical. We monitor graft function with LFTs, lactate clearance, bile production and Doppler ultrasound — every few hours.
Haemodynamic Management
Post-transplant haemodynamics are complex. Our intensivists manage fluid balance, vasopressors and cardiac output in the context of the newly functioning graft.
Immunosuppression Initiation
Post-transplant immunosuppression is initiated and closely monitored in the ICU — tacrolimus levels, renal function and infection markers tracked continuously.
Complication Management
Early post-operative complications — bleeding, biliary leak, hepatic artery thrombosis — are detected and managed immediately by our on-site surgical team.
Ventilatory Support
Patients with hepatic encephalopathy, ARDS or post-operative respiratory compromise receive expert ventilatory support — with early extubation as the target.
Step-Down to Ward
Once haemodynamically stable and graft function confirmed, patients step down to our dedicated liver ward — maintaining the same team continuity and monitoring standards.
