Our Approach

Early Detection and
Radical Surgery Save Lives

Gallbladder cancer is often detected late and is more common in India than in Western countries. Surgical resection — when performed by an experienced HPB surgeon — offers the only chance of cure. At SALi, our team performs radical cholecystectomy with hepatic resection and regional lymphadenectomy, achieving R0 (clear margin) resection in the majority of operable cases.

What We Offer

Our Approach to Gallbladder Cancer Treatment

Radical Resection
Our HPB surgeons perform radical cholecystectomy with en-bloc hepatic resection — achieving clear margins in the majority of operable gallbladder cancers.
Incidental Cancer Management
Many gallbladder cancers are found incidentally after routine cholecystectomy. We assess, restage and re-resect appropriately to give the best chance of cure.
Bile Duct Reconstruction
When the bile duct is involved, we excise it and reconstruct biliary drainage with a hepaticojejunostomy — a complex procedure requiring specialist HPB expertise.
Staging Laparoscopy
Before committing to open surgery, we use diagnostic laparoscopy to rule out peritoneal disease — avoiding unnecessary large operations when cancer has spread.
MDT Decision Making
Every gallbladder cancer case is reviewed at our multidisciplinary tumour board — surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology and radiology together.
Palliative Options
For patients with unresectable disease, we offer biliary stenting, bypass procedures and coordination of palliative chemotherapy to maximise quality of life.
